Mohammed Kudus became an Ajax player on July 16, 2020.

The 19-year-old joined the Amsterdam-based club on a 5-year deal from FC Nordsjaelland for a reported fee of €9 million.

“I’m elated to join Ajax and braced for the future cos it’s a special place with a new culture and challenges. I look forward to further developing and winning with the team and fans,” Kudus said after signing for Ajax.

Kudus will be wearing the number 20 jersey at Ajax, but he has revealed that he considered the number 34 which was worn by Abdelhak Nouri.

Abdelhak Nouri collapsed during a friendly match between Ajax and Germany’s Werder Bremen on July 8, 2017, in Austria due to a cardiac arrest, which caused serious brain damage. He woke up from a coma in March 2020.

Kudus has, however, dedicated his move to Ajax to Abdelhak Nouri.

“I considered #34 but I dedicate my signing to Abdelhak Nouri a bro in faith to keep his dreams alive,” Kudus wrote.
