1. You Want To Get The Light To Work For You

Apparently, the best times to take a selfie are at sunrise or sunset, in terms of natural lighting. However, whenever else you’re taking a picture go towards sources of natural light. It’ll help you avoid dark spots and shadows. And also, good lighting = good picture.

2. Extend Your Head Away From Your Neck

This is a tip taken right from the Kim Kardashian playbook of selfies. Extend your head away from your neck, and you create the look of a longer neck. It also emphasizes your jaw line. Additionally, you can push your shoulders down in order to make yourself look more relaxed. It’s a lot, I know.

3. Hold Your Phone To The Side

If you holding your phone right in front of you is not working for you, you can try side angles instead.

If you don’t have access to natural lighting, one thing you can do is use an app to help you get a better result. Snapchat happens to have a front facing flash feature that you can use to take your pictures. You can always slap a filter on the picture if that throws off the colour scheme.
