UENR: Meet Bashiru Ibrahim Tare, Local NUGS Presidential Candidate

I’m in the person of Bashiru Ibrahim Tare, offering Bachelor in Computer Science at the University of Energy and Natural Resources-Sunyani. I am a teacher by profession and an entrepreneur.

I was elected as the Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) of the student’s Bar in 2020. During my turn of office, we engaged in legal education for the various departments on UENR campus, sensitized students on their privileges and rights, conducted Bar entrance lectures, examination for new law students who were later called to the Bar after successfully passing their Bar examination and the first-ever organized MOOT TRIAL in the 2019/2020 academic year. I served as the chairman of the Student’s Bar Constitutional Review Committee for the year 2020.

Being the president of Technik Ohne Grenzen e.V. (TeoG) Sunyani Regional Group (UENR) for 2019/2020 academic year, we undertook various projects in deprived rural communities under the Bono region. TeoG is a Germany NGO(Voluntary students group) which is into  Rural community development in Recycling of Waste, Electricity extension, Treatment of hospital beds, repairs of hospital equipment, and water regeneration. During my tenure, our sacrifices were recognized throughout Ghana which earned us Nomination for the SDGs Awards held in KNUST-Kumasi, Nomination for Humanitarian Awards for both TeoG and the past president Mr Anthony Kodzo Hunkpe who was a BSc. Mathematics student of UENR, Nomination for National Students Prestigious Award for both TeoG and Mr Bashiru Ibrahim Tare my very good self, all in the year 2020.

My motivation for UENR-LNUGS Presidency is based on my knowledge about NUGS activities and my experience as a teacher, student and young activist who is passionate about societal and national development. I’m a positive minded person who believes in service to humanity hence service to the good students of UENR. Poised to DRIVE the interest of UENR students and fulfil the mandates of the Local NUGS Secretariat stipulated in Article 21 of the UENR-SRC constitution to the fullest hence the slogan; BashCanDrive.

I shall take passion in doing politics after school to continue serving the good people of Ghana with all knowledge and experience acquired in all my endeavours.

Some my policies if I am elected into office include the following:

1. Installation of projectors in large lecture halls.

2. Capacity building through;

    a. Technology innovations (Innovation day).

    b. Seminars (A day with the key decision makers).

    c. Inter-school’s/department’s debates, quizzes and sports.

    d. Security education.

3. Advocating for more efficient exchange programs for students.

4. Collaborating with the SRC Welfare commission and Rent Control Division-Ghana to advocate for the privileges and rights of students in regards to accommodation.

5. Establishing Local NUGS Electronic Library (LNUGS E-library)
