Manchester City received great news on Monday, July 12, 2020, after their two-year ban from UEFA competitions was lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

CAS announced that Manchester City were cleared of “disguising equity funds as sponsorship contributions”.

The ruling by CAS means that City will be able to play in next season’s Champions League after they were initially punished by UEFA in February 2020, when they were banned from competing in European competitions for two years for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations between 2012 and 2016.

They were also initially fined €30 million, but the fine has now been reduced to €10 million.

The ruling by CAS has generated mixed reactions from football fans all over the world, including football fans in Ghana.

The decision to lift Manchester City’s ban means that Chelsea, Leicester City and Manchester United will now have to fight for the last two spots of the top four to be eligible to play Champions League next season.

The fans of these clubs, especially Chelsea and Manchester United fans have been talking about their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Some people were just disappointed by the decision to overturn Manchester City’s ban.

Others also alleged that the rich Arab owner of the club influenced the decision with his money. They also tagged UEFA and CAS and the owner of City as “fraud” and “cheats”.

And there are those who always find a way to create humour out of every news on social media.

Here are some of the hilarious reactions to the issue:
