The management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has announced its decision to suspend non-emergency surgical cases for the next two weeks.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations of the hospital, Mustapha Ali, the decision is necessitated by the fact that some staff of the hospital have been infected with COVID-19.
“This measure is therefore to protect our clients and the rest of the staff who are still at post and providing care to patients. The suspension will also enable us to reorganize ourselves for the resumption of regular services.” the statement read.
“Only dire emergencies will be attended to within this period,” the hospital clarified.
The dire surgical emergencies that the hospital will be attending to include Surgery, ENT, Maxillofacial and Obstetrics.
