Six students of the Accra Girls Senior High School have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Citi News, some students of the school showed symptoms of COVID-19 and were isolated at the school’s sickbay on Monday, June 29, 2020.
Health officials from the Ayawaso East Health directorate were called in to deal with the matter.
COVID-19 tests were subsequently run on 11 students. Six of them tested positive and were on Saturday, July 4, 2020, sent to the Ga East Municipal Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, calm has returned to the school after agitations over COVID-19 fears among the students.
Ghana’s coronavirus cases
Ghana’s COVID-19 cases have now crossed the 20,000 mark.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in its latest update on Sunday morning [July 5, 2020] confirmed that the country’s total case count has increased to 20,085 after 697 new infections were recorded as at July 2, 2020.
The death toll currently stand at 122, while the total number of recoveries have also shot up to 14,870.
The number of active cases, however, stand at 5,093.
