COVID-19: Ghana Surpasses 20,000 Mark With 697 New Cases

Ghana’s COVID-19 cases have now crossed the 20,000 mark, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed.

The latest update by the GHS on Sunday morning [July 5, 2020] indicates that the country has recorded 697 new cases, taking the total count to 20,085.

The new cases were recorded in 10 regions.

The regions that recorded new cases are Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, Eastern, Volta, Upper East, Western North, Savannah, Bono and North East.

The death toll has also increaserd to 122 after 5 more persons succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile, 540 more persons have recovered from COVID-19, increasing the total number of recoveries to 14,870.

The number of active cases, however, stand at 5,093.

The Greater Accra Region still leads with cases 10,979, Ashanti Region is second with 4,244 cases, Western Region – 1,729, Central Region – 983, Eastern Region – 798, Volta Region – 362, Upper East Region – 278, Western North Region – 154, Northern Region – 137, Bono East Region – 136, Oti Region – 112, Upper West Region – 55, Savannah Region – 46, Bono Region – 38, Ahafo Region – 26 and North East Region – 8.
