Twitter turned blue last night… well, it is still blue after the news of a possible move of German striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig to Chelsea broke.

Werner’s move to Chelsea is now the most talked about topic in the world of sports and also on social media.

According to reports, Timo Werner is ready to sign his contract as new Chelsea player until June 2025 in the coming days. Chelsea will pay £54m to RB Leipzig for the German striker.

Werner, 24, who has scored 25 league goals this season, would be Chelsea’s second signing for next season after already completing a £37m deal for Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech in February 2020.

Chelsea signing Werner will be an absolute good move, taking into consideration his versatility as a player coupled with his fantastic pace.

A lot of football fans know Werner to be the main man in attack for RB Leipzig, but it is interesting to note that he can also play in any forward position and score a lot of goals.

As a player with Leipzig, Werner has been played in four different attacking positions by Julian Nagelsmann.

Aside from the centre-forward position where he is mostly known to play, Werner has been deployed as number 10, at the left-wing and also at the right-wing of attack, and he has been productive from all these positions.

His versatility will provide Frank Lampard with a lot of options, taking into consideration the other talented and young players in the Chelsea squad.
