A total of 280 Ghanaians who were stranded in the United States of America are set to arrive in Ghana after they were evacuated on Thursday night [June 25, 2020].
The stranded Ghanaians boarded a chartered Ethiopian Airline from the Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey to Accra.

The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration tasked Ghana’s Consulate in New York to assist in the evacuation of Ghanaians who are registered with the Consulate General.
According to Ohemeng Ian Moore Socio, who reported the news, the stranded Ghanaians were happy to be returning home to meet their loved ones after almost four months. They were also grateful to the government for responding to their calls to be evacuated.
The evacuees, however, will undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine (with the possibility of extension to 21 days), when they arrive in Ghana.
Per a statement that was released prior to the evacuation, the evacuees will bear the cost of the quarantine.
