It has been confirmed that education is the sure way of breaking the poverty cycle.
However, nobody said anything about how far to go on the education ladder.
Most of the time when someone’s educational background ends at the Junior High School level, most people would write them off.
However, Doris’ ambition would trump any social perceptions.
She is making it in the male-dominated tiling industry after she was unable to continue her education after junior high school.
According to Doris, she dreamed to become a lawyer, an accountant or a businesswoman but she lost her parents just when she needed their help to go into high school at the time.
With no one ready to help her at the time and no Free-SHS policy, Doris’ ambitions were cut short but she decided never to give up on life and success, the Ghana Women Matter wrote about Doris.
When Doris showed interest in venturing into tiling business, she was told that it was a job meant for men.
It was an NGO that saw the potential in Doris and decided to put her through training.
When she completed her training, Doris started her own business which has began receiving orders.
