GFA Makes Move To Help Stranded Ghanaian Footballers In Ethiopia Return Home

Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has revealed that he is in touch with Minister of Youth and Sports, Issac Asiamah, and they are working on helping some 21 stranded Ghanaian footballers in Ethiopia return home.

A video of some stranded Ghanaian footballers in Ethiopia pleading with the government of Ghana to help them return home went viral on social media on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

According to the players, things have been difficult for them since the leagues in Ethiopia were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and need help to return to Ghana.

Kurt Okraku, however, has informed that he is working with the Sports Minister on evacuating the footballers.

“Ethiopia update!! We now know that 21 Ghanaian footballers are currently in Ethiopia wanting to come home…Hon Issac Kwame Asiamah is in touch with the ministry of foreign affairs… Soon… this too shall pass!!” the GFA President stated in a Facebook post.
