Stranded Ghanaian Footballers In Ethiopia Call For Evacuation

Ghanaian footballers stranded in Ethiopia

Ghanaian footballers who are stranded in Ethiopia have called on the government of Ghana to help them return home.

According to them, the leagues in Ethiopia have been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and they have no money left after they spent all on food and accommodation.

One of the footballers, Lee Addy (who was a member of Ghana’s 2010 FIFA World Cup squad) indicated that they had a meeting with Ghana’s Consulate in Ethiopia to seek for help but they were told that nothing could be done about their situation.

He added that the only help the Consulate was willing to give is to transport them back to Ghana via a cargo plane, which will cost them (the footballers) $2,000 dollars.

Addy went on to state that things are getting difficult for them and they really need the government to help them return home.
