Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has announced he is going to wear boots carrying the message “Black Lives Matter” during the Merseyside derby and will then auction it with the proceeds going towards the fight against prejudice.
Alexander-Arnold is set to play against Everton tonight at Goodison Park and is also set to take action against racism.
Premier League players have been kneeling before kick-off in solidarity with all the protests taking place around the world against racism and police brutality that started after the killing of George Floyd during an arrest in Minneapolis, Minnesota last month.
The Liverpool full-back, though, is planning to go a step further as he is going to auction his boots after the derby to raise money for the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
The England international shared a powerful statement on Twitter where he called for “meaningful change” and declared that the “system is broken”.
