The Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Ghana 2023 Project Team has launched a contest for a mascot and logo for the 13th African Games which will be held in Ghana.
The Sports Ministry says it is looking for a logo and a mascot that uses “parts of our heritage, our traditional/cultural symbols and flora, as well as fauna to epitomise our collective dreams and aspirations as a people, first as Ghanaians and then as Africans”.
“The Logo and Mascot should also represent the African Union (AU) and the African Union Commission (AUC) Images. They should both be easily recognisable and colourful as entries will be judged for the style, creativity and impact, easily usable for all promotions and advertising,” the Ministry indicated.
The submission deadline for the contest is Wednesday, July 29, 2020, and the winner will be announced before the official launch of the 13th African Games, Ghana 2023, later in the year.
Winners of either logo or mascot submission shall receive GH₵5,000.00 cash and plaque each
The first runner-up and second runner-up will receive GH₵3,000 and GH₵2,000 each.
The competition is open to Ghanaians, who will be expected to indicate their full name, proof of identity such as national ID (Ghana Card) or passport, and email addresses, as well as phone numbers.
The entries should be accompanied by a short description of not more than 300 words of designer’s own interpretation of either logo and/or mascot.
All entries must be submitted in both electronic formats, as well as hard copies at Corporate Box 4, Accra Sports Stadium.
