The Oura wearable is a ‘smart ring’ that can track temperature, respiratory rate and sleeping patterns. Using that data, the ring can predict symptoms of Covid-19, up to 3 days in advance with a 90% accuracy.
As the NBA restarts its season, players are reportedly going to use the wearable to track their health and to keep watch for Covd-19 symptoms. The smart ring will provide early warning signs if a player is in danger of contracting the virus (source: The Athletic).
A Twitter user has, however, pointed out that these rings could be used to support essential workers.
