Arsenal defender, David Luiz produced one of the poorest performance ever in his career in the Premier League game restart against Manchester City on Wednesday night [June 17, 2020].
Luiz came on from the bench as a substitute in the first half and spent only 25 minutes on the pitch.
During his time on the pitch David Luiz gifted Raheem Sterling the opening goal before giving away a penalty for a foul on Riyad Mahrez that earned him a red card.
Luiz joined Arsenal for £8 million from Chelsea in the summer transfer window of 2019.
Since joining Arsenal, Luiz has conceded four penalties this season, equalling the record for the most amount of spot-kicks given away in a Premier League campaign.
Manchester City went on to win by 3-0.
David Luiz, however, accepted responsibility for Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester City, but said he still hopes to play for the club again.
“It’s my fault,” the 33-year-old said.
“The team did well, especially with 10 men. The coach is amazing, all the players are amazing, it was my fault.”
“I want to be here. The coach knows. He wants me to stay.”
