Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign German striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
The 24-year-old striker has agreed personal terms with the Blues and, subject to passing a medical, will join the West London club in July after the German league season ends.
Werner has scored 32 goals for Leipzig in all competitions so far this season.
This news was confirmed on Thursday morning [June 18, 2020] when Timo Werner posted a video on Twitter about his imminent move to Stamford Bridge.
“I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a proud moment for me to be joining this great club,” he said.
This announcement triggered a lot of reactions from football fans on Twitter, especially Ghanaians on the site.
A lot of the tweets we saw are from Chelsea fans who are excited about the news and can’t wait to see the German feature for the club and also go on to become a great player for the club.
Others, however, are of the view that Werner might become like Fernando Torres and Alvaro Morata who were unsuccessful at Chelsea.
