Six years ago today, Robin Van Persie scored an unbelievable header for the Netherlands against Spain in 2014 World Cup.

The goal, which is regarded as one of the greatest headers in World Cup history, earned him the name: The Flying Dutchman.

Van Persie met Daley Blind’s inch perfect crossfield pass with an “flying” 15-yard header.

The goal was just remarkable and the fans in the stadium had no choice but to applaud the striker.

Van Persie’s goal was an equaliser that powered the Netherlands to go on to beat Spain by 5-1, which was an act of sweet revenge for their loss to Spain in the 2010 World Cup final.
