Asante Kotoko: Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Bans Player Recruitment For A Year

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the life patron of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has placed a temporary ban on player recruitment at the club for at least a season, the club has announced.

This decision was communicated to the club by Kofi Badu, the Chief of Staff of the Manhyia Palace.

“Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has directed that the club should not recruit any new player for at least a season,” Kofi Badu is quoted by the club on Twitter.

According to Kofi Badu, the reason for Otumfuo’s decision is to temporarily stop the player attrition rate and enable the development of the players who are currently in the team.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II believes that the players the team has now can take the club to the next level.

“The reason is to temporarily stop the player attrition rate and enable us to work with the current crop of players, who the Asantehene thinks have the quality to push the club to the top,” the club stated.
