Asante Kotoko Legend Reveals How Talented Obinim Was As A Footballer

Bishop Daniel Obinim, Head Pastor of the International God’s Way church

We all know Bishop Daniel Obinim, the Head Pastor of International God’s Way Church, as a controversial man of God who is always in the news for some bizarre reason.

But it appears that Obinim could have become a well-known Ghanaian footballer and could have been playing for one of the biggest football clubs in Europe if he had not become a pastor.

Stephen Oduro, a legend of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has revealed that he Obinim was a very talented footballer during their youthful days.

According to Stephen Oduro, he lived in the same house as Obinim. He also stated that Obinim was a better footballer than him and he always wanted to be part of Obinim’s team.

Oduro, however, is surprised that Obinim did not continue as a footballer.

“I was born at Akwatia Line, the same house as Bishop Daniel Obinim who is a man of God today. He was our next-door neighbour and other guys but he (Obinim) was really a good footballer,” Oduro said in an interview.

“…but I don’t know why he quit football but he was so good at playing,”

“Obinim was a better player than I was so anytime we play I wanted to be part of his team else I won’t play because if I go the opposite side they will score us,” he said.

Below is a photo of Obinim with his teammates during his playing days at Akwatia Line:
