Memphis Depay has revealed that he has made peace with his dad, after he claimed his dad abandoned him when he was young.

Memphis’ dad, Dennis Depay – who hails from Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana – at the age of 23, left Ghana to Moordrecht in the Netherlands, where Memphis was born.

After signing for Manchester United in 2015, Memphis refused to wear his father’s name on the back of his jersey. The reason he gave for this was that his dad, Dennis, abandoned him and his mother when he was four-years-old.

Dennis, however, debunked his son’s claims and insisted that he did not abandon Memphis and would “love to be back in touch” with him. He explained he was still in touch with Memphis after he divorced his mother.

“He was not abandoned by me. That is not true. I was always there for him… I would love to be back in touch with him. I miss him so much,” Dennis said in an interview in 2015

Memphis Depay has now revealed that he has settled things with his dad.

He made this known is tweet.

“Me and my dad came back together to settle things a couple years ago. Now more than ever we need to find love and strength in each other!” Memphis Depay wrote.
