Rockstar Games To Shut Down Grand Theft Auto Online And Red Dead Online To Honor George Floyd

American video game publisher Rockstar Games have decided to shut down their online gaming platform to honor the legacy of George Floyd, the black man who was murdered through police brutality.

Rockstar Games will be shutting down access to both Grand Theft Auto online and also Red Dead online from 6pm to 8pm GMT 4th June 2020

“Black Lives Matter. To honor the legacy of George Floyd, today, 6/4/20, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. ET, we will be shutting down access to our online games, Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online”, the Gaming company wrote in a tweet.

To show solidarity to the #BlackLivesMatter movement, Rockstar Games will be supporting black owned businesses, as well as those marching on the streets. Rockstar games has also curated a list by their analysts which highlights civil rights nonprofits whose work is national in scope.
