COVID-19: Ghana To Go Ahead With Plans For 2023 African Games

Isaac Asiamah, the Minister for Youth and Sports, has said that Ghana will go ahead with preparations for the 2023 African Games despite the effect of COVID-19 on major sporting events around the world.

Ghana won the bid to host the 13th edition of the African Games in 2023, which will likely be held in the Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast.

According to the Minister, the 2023 African Games Project Team which is led by the Deputy Sports Minister, Perry Okudjeto, will continue to work to ensure that Ghana hosts a memorable competition.

“Notwithstanding the negative effect of COVID-19 on global sporting programmes, I am happy to announce that Ghana’s preparation to host the 2023 African Games is on course.”

“So far, there has not been any indication of the postponement of the Games. Nonetheless, the 2023 African Games Project Team, led by my hardworking Deputy Minister, is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Ghana organises and hosts a memorable African Games come 2023,” he assured.
