“Just Do What’s Right”: Sarkodie Advises Sammy Gyamfi To Take Down Post

Sarkodie has advised Sammy Gyamfi to do the right thing and take down a caricature he posted on social media which many people feel is insensitive and disrespectful to the death of George Floyd.

Sammy Gyamfi, who is the Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), earlier today [June 2, 2020] posted a caricature which shows the Electoral Commissioner Jean Mensa “choking a Ghanaian” with the help of President Akufo-Addo, which is similar to the bizarre circumstances through which George Floyd died.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, the caricature doesn’t seek to mock the death of George Floyd. He states that the caricature rather seeks to depict how “the Jean Mensah-led EC is seeking to disenfranchise millions of eligible voters through a xenophobic voter register.”

Sammy Gyamfi has been criticised by Ghanaians on social media for his post. He has also been asked by others to delete the image and apologise for his actions.

Sarkodie is one of the people who have asked the politician to delete his post and apologise to Ghanaians and the people involved in the caricature.

“Naa my brother we all go wrong sometimes… I will believe your intention wasn’t to joke with these serious n very sensitive issues, but you still wrong just do what’s right…. retract n take it down,” Sarkodie wrote.
