Ghana’s National Sports Authority has released a list of disciplines that fall under non-contact sports that can resume training sessions after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced a phased relaxation of restrictions that were imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The restrictions that were eased by the President in his tenth address to the nation on COVID-19, allows for some sporting activities like golf, tennis and badminton to resume training sessions.
However, contact sports like football, volleyball and hockey will remain suspended in Ghana until July 31, 2020.
“In line with the Presidential Directives issued on 31st May 2020 by His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the under listed individual non-contact sports can resume their respective training session,” a statement by the National Sports Authority.
“However, competitive sporting events and games still remain suspended till further notice,” the statement added.
