Tyson Fury is now the highest-paid combat athlete in the world after fighting three times in the last 12 months, with the last a famous stoppage of Deontay Wilder in their February 2020 rematch.

The Manchester-born bruiser earned £40m from his three bouts, with the rest of his earnings made from sponsorship.

According to Forbes, Fury is now the 11th highest-paid sportsperson in the world, five places above Conor McGregor and eight ahead of fellow British heavyweight Anthony Joshua.

American boxer Wilder, who has the chance to regain his world title when he takes on Fury in a trilogy bout later this year, is ranked in 20th on the list.

Meanwhile, tennis star Roger Federer has topped the list for the first time having pocketed a staggering £86m over the last 12 months – more than football superstars Cristiano Ronaldo (£85m) and Lionel Messi (£84m).

Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar takes the fourth spot on the list, while NBA icon LeBron James rounds out the top five.
