
President Akufo Addo has announced a phased relaxation of restrictions imposed to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.
As part of the phased relaxation of the restrictions, schools are to be opened for final year students.
On June 15, final year students in Junior High School, Senior High School, training colleges and universities will be expected to report to school.
For the senior high school, second year students in the gold track are also expected to return to school on June 15.
As part of measures to protect students, teaching and non-teaching staff who will be returning to school on June 15, the President said JHS classes are to have at most 30 students per class. SHS classes are to have 25 students at most in a class while universities are to have half of the class population in a particular classroom.
He said the Ministry of Education would also disinfect all schools – public or private before the June 15 expected reopen date.
Students, teaching and non-teaching staff would also be given reusable face masks.
