Ghana’s High Commission in Abuja has announced a possible evacuation of Ghanaians living in Nigeria who wish to return home.

According to a statement released by the High Commission, a Chartered flight has been arranged with Africa World Airlines (AWA) for a possible evacuation on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.

However, Ghanaians who wish to return home will have for pay $800-$1000 for the flight from Abuja to Accra and $700-$900 from Lagos to Accra.

“The Ghana High Commission in Abuja wishes to inform Ghanaians and resident permit holders who have submitted their details for possible evacuation to Ghana that, Mission has arranged a Chartered flight with Africa World Airlines (AWA) possibly on Tuesday 2nd June 2020.”

“The cost per passenger ranges from $800-$1000 for a flight from Abuja to Accra and $700-$900 from Lagos to Accra all depending on the maximum number (34),” the statement added.

The High Commission also urged Ghanaians to register for the evacuation by close of May, 31, 2020.

“It is pertinent to state that passengers are also required to pay the mandatory cost of 14 days quarantine before boarding,” the statement added.
