Tonight African stars including Angelique Kidjo, Burna Boy, Davido, Diamond Platnumz and Salif Keita – will be performing in a concert to raise money to help people across the continent struggling because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
One use for the money will be to provide meals for thousands of children who are now missing the one reliable meal they used to have each day at school.
The host of the event is the actor and film star Idris Elba – one of the first big stars to say he himself had tested positive from coronavirus.
In an interview with the BBC ahead of tonight’s concert Idris said he is looking forward to getting the corporations to support Africa.
“To have those corporations dig deep and help Africa… is really the focal point,” he said.
According to Idris, the corporations that live on the continent must help.
Stonebwoy and M.anifest will also perform for the concert.
