5 Of The Strangest African Marriage Traditions

“No baby, no wedding”

The Neur people of Southern Sudan do not consider a marriage complete without a third child.

Before the wedding, the groom is asked to pay between 20 to 40 cows. Once that is accepted, everyones waits till the bride gives birth to her third child before their union is considered official.

The groom is allowed to leave his bride after she bears just one child.

That’s brutal right?

There really are some very colourful practices in our culture. Thank God some are outmoded now.
