Ashanti Region’s COVID-19 Cases Surpass 1,000 Mark

The Ashanti Region’s tally for coronavirus infections has exceeded the 1,000 mark, according to the latest update by the Ghana Health Service on Saturday, May 23, 2020.

The region’s total number of COVID-19 cases is now 1,010 after 22 new infections since the last update on May 22, 2020.

Majority of the Ashanti Region’s recent cases have been recorded in the Obuasi township.

It is still the region with the second most recorded cases in Ghana. The Greater Accra Region leads the regional case chart with 4,780 cases.

The other regions with cases are: Central Region – 297, Western Region – 208, Eastern Region – 106, Western North Region – 61, Volta Region – 45, Northern Region – 34, Oti Region – 26, Upper East Region – 26, Upper West Region – 21, North East Region – 2, Bono Region – 1.

Savannah, Ahafo and Bono East are the only regions with no coronavirus cases.

The Ghana Health Health Service also confirmed in its latest update that the country’s total coronavirus cases have increased to 6,617 with 1,978 recoveries.
