The Faculty of Law at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has a new dean.
It was announced that seasoned lawyer, Ernest Kofi Abotsi’s new role will be the Dean of the Law Faculty at UPSA.
Ernest Abosti has over 15 years of experience in Law and he is the Managing Partner of Axis Legal.
During his years of practice he has provided extensive advisory services to diverse clients including the Judiciary, Attorney-General’s Department, IGOs, corporate institutions, among others.
Ernest’s field of practice spans the spectrum of corporate and commercial law and includes legal asset management, M & As, securities and equity restructuring, Oil & Gas, debt management and recovery, shipping & mercantile as well as regulatory advising. Mr. Abotsi among others holds a Master of Law (LL.M) Degree from the Harvard Law School in the United States. He is also the Dean of the Faculty of Law, GIMPA.
He has lectured at the Faculty of Law at the GIMPA Law School and specializes in constitutional and comparative law and international law.
He holds an LL.B degree from the University of Ghana, Legon, a BL from the Ghana School of Law and an LL.M from Harvard Law School and comes to the center with an extensive experience in the field of managing civil society projects within an academic context.
He holds significant publications to his credit in leading peer-review journals and has covering extensive fields in the law such as constitutional and comparative law, development law, human rights international law and customary law reform.
He also has a rich experience in criminal justice administration especially in the area of police capacity building and legal sector reform projects.
He in addition advises a number of development-oriented institutions both in Ghana and internationally including the Constitutional Review Commission in Ghana and the Legal Aid Board.
Mr. Abotsi also has a rich international experience as he has and continues to visit a number of international universities in Africa and the United States on academic exchange and other intellectual engagements.
