Ghanaian Figurative Artist, Kwesi Botchway is exhibiting a new collection “Dark Purple Is Everything Black“.
The exhibition which has already commenced, started on Tuesday, 19th May 2020 at the Gallery 1957 (Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City & Galleria Mall).
Art Historian Katherine Finerty describes Kwesi Botchway’s “Dark Purple is Everything Black” in a very detailed way, ‘This new body of work establishes the artist’s practice of talking with color. In his newest series of portraits, Botchway brings to life a community of subjects full of deep melanin skin tones. By using purple to ground his depiction of skin tone, the artist is seeking a new way to communicate colour consciousness, identity representation, and perceptions of beauty.’
