Bishop Obinim Charged With Publication Of False News And Forgery

Bishop Daniel Obinim, the Head Pastor of International God’s Way Church has been granted bail by an Accra Magistrate Court after he was arrested and charged with the offences of publication of false news and forgery of document contrary to sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and other offences Act, 1960 (ACT 29) respectively.

According to a statement signed by, Ms Juliana Obeng, the Deputy Superintendent of the Public Affairs Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Bishop Obinim is also under investigation for other offences levelled against him.

“Bishop Obinim was sent to Magistrate court, Accra and has been granted bail in the sum of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC100,000.00) with three sureties, one person to be justified and to reappear before court on June 1, 2020,” the statement indicated.

The statement further clarified that the arrest of Bishop Obinim has no relation to a video circulating on social media. The CID, however, entreated the public to disregard the content of the video.
