
The coronavirus pandemic coming off the back of the banking sector reform put fears in many that the banking sector would suffer major losses.
However, if the first three months earnings of the banks are anything to go by, then they might be able to weather the storm that the pandemic is bringing.
According to a Business 24 report, top-10 banks in Ghana made GH¢843m in after-tax earnings.
Here are the top 10 banks and the amount they made from January and March:
Absa Ghana (formerly Barclays) – GH¢130m
Ecobank Ghana – GH¢118m
Standard Chartered – GH¢109m
GCB Bank – GH¢92m
Stanbic – GH¢73m
Access Bank – GH¢68m
Guaranty Trust Bank – GH¢67m
Fidelity Bank – GH¢68m
Zenith Bank – GH¢63m
UBA Ghana – GH¢55m
