If you are a fan of movies or music videos, then you have probably felt the effect that a colourist gives to a video. Although you may not be aware of it, the colours are what makes you unable to look away when you’re watching a music video. The colours transport you into whatever you’re watching. Just from the colours, you can see that the video becomes a little animated. A colourist helps a video director by making sure that the colours in his video match his vision for it. A colourist is the one who gives a video its “look.” They also adjust the colour attributes in a video in order to create a specific mood or tone.

A colourist’s job is normally considered a post-production process. However, Ghanaian colourist Tytanium believes that a colourist’s job should start as early as the pre-production planning stage of a video.
