Ghanaian comic actor Clemento Suarez has given us an insight into his personal life and career as a comedian and rapper.
Clemento Suarez was born Clement Ashiteye in Tema. He had his primary education at Vichrist Parents’ School, Bethel Junior High School, and went on to Tema Secondary School. His tertiary education was at the school of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana in Legon where he graduated in 2010.
Clemento Suarez broke into the industry with a group play ” Gallery of Comedies”. Since then Clemento has entertained Ghanaians with a lot of plays. Stage plays in Ghana have been on the rise with Clemento Saurez and the “Superfam team” working hard to gain the interest of Ghanaians drawing more patronage and attention to the industry.
Speaking on the Kuulpeeps #LiveJive Instagram live session, he gave us insight into how some directors are able to give him the free will to use his creativity in bringing out the comic nature of the script during stage plays.
Clemento Suarez is known for his rap skills even though he’s not fully into the rap game. He said he will not take advantage of the rap game to becomes famous, however he says he has plans to release an album under the management of DCryme.
In 2019, Clemento Suarez won Best Male Comedian at the GH Actors & Entertainers Awards.
Comedy in Ghana has seen some changes with most comedians using new media to disseminate their content. In advising upcoming comedians, Clemento Suarez urged them to be very creative in their delivery.
He also advised they take their studies seriously, read wide and do a lot of research to help them deliver current and interesting content to their audience. His last advice was “do not rush, just take your time”.
Clemento Saurez names Lil Win, Kwaku Manu, Funny face, DKB, OB Amponsah and Kaly Bos as some of his favourite comedians in the country.
