Tourism Ministry Clarifies Drinking Bars, Night Clubs Should Remain Closed

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has cleared the air concerning a previous report issued by the Ghana Tourism Authority that hotels, restaurants and bars can start operation.

The Ministry has issued a statement that all drinking bars and night clubs should remain closed, as part of efforts to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

The report by the Ministry of Tourism states that “The Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture has taken note of the circular issued by the Ghana Tourism Authority and captioned as above.

The Ministry wishes to clarify the directives as follows:

  1. Food Chains and Restaurants (including Hotel Restaurants) can operate takeout and delivery services only.
  1. Drinking Bars remain closed.
  2. All Night Clubs remain closed.

The public is to note that this circular supersedes the one issued by the Regulator.

The statement was signed by Hon. Babara Oteng Gyasi, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
