All the talk about female rappers and who’s the best etc etc etc had us thinking about female rappers.
And when Freda Rhymz’ Point Of Correction dropped, her first few lines talking about female rappers who paved the way, we started thinking about those.
Female rappers who have either dropped their career altogether, are just in the shadows watching or have retired to become full time singers..
You know how you see the sensual rappers side of music… the Nickis and Cardi Bs and you’re wondering if anyone in GH would be able to kill a similar role …. Well that was Lousika.
Sis could also rap in Twi, Spanish, French and English! She received nominations and had songs with Sarkodie, Obrafuor, and more. Right when her career was taking off, she took a break after getting married and starting a family.
Abrewa Nana is the Queen of all rap Queens in Gh. She thrives at a time where there weren’t a lot of her kind. She had two albums with back to back hits that got her nominations as the Best Female Artist at the VGMAs in Ghana and UK. She’s still got game tho and was recently featured on a song with Eno Barony.
Eazzy baby who likes to call herself the First Lady was one of our favourite rappers. She wowed us with her songs in 2010…Bo nsem ma me, One gal and Wengeze. These songs earned her several nominations and after parting ways with Lynx Entertainment, she dropped another project in 2014 with the hit singles , Scream and Bad to The Bone. Eazzy was on fire but she’s since stuck to more singing and is still in the game with songs featuring Mr Eazi, Shatta Wale and more.
C-A-R-O Caro was also one of our favourite rappers! From Miss Malaika to hosting shows to giving us dope lines on the the Pigaro remix from Asem which featured her, and more, She’s since stopped making music, has had over 10 great years as a very successful tv/radio show host and is currently known as an entrepreneur.
No one. absolutely no one had more swag than Tiffany. She was a complete package and served us with so many hits. She had songs with Jayso, Sarkodie, R2Bees and many more and her feature on Fuse ODG’s Azonto did amazing for her career. She fell off the music scene after she took time off to concentrate on starting a business and running it.
We bet you didn’t know she could rap! She’s one of the rappers who were badass but have taken time off to sing more. She actually broke into the music scene as Felly, a femcee signed under Lynx.
These ladies came and conquered and to those currently rapping their way into the spotlight…shadout to y’all.
