Ravi Zacharias has been battling cancer of the spine for some time now. A recent update of his health by his daughter, Sarah Davis, sparked the tributes that are being posted on social media now.

According to the statement released by her daughter, the area where the cancer metastasized has worsened.

“His oncologist informed us that this cancer is very rare in its aggression and that no options for further treatment remain. Medically speaking, they have done all they are able,” the statement added.

He was born in India

Ravi Zacharias was born on March 26, 1946, in Madras, India. His family moved to Delhi when he was quite young and he grew up there. and moved to Canada with his family 20 years later. 

He was an atheist

Zacharias reveals he was an atheist until the age of 17 when he tried to commit suicide by swallowing poison. However, the scripture in John Chapter 14, specifically, John 14:19 which states “Because I live, you also will live” was what made him commit his life to Christ.

He is married with 3 children

In May 1972, Zacharias married Margaret “Margie” Reynolds, whom he met at his church’s youth group. They have three children.

He is a renowned author

He has authored over twenty books, one is titled “Can Man Live Without God,” which won the Gold Medallion. Several of his books have been translated into various languages including Russian, Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Spanish.
