You see people starting YouTube channels all around and I guess it’s nice to see people creating content. However, one thing that is never discussed is how much money you can even make from YouTube. Well, sometimes it’s a whole lot, and then at other times not so much.

PewDiePie Made 40 Million USD From YouTube

PewDiePie is one of the YouTubers with the most subscribers in the world. Indian Music Channel, T-Series, is the only channel with more subscribers. PewDiePie’s channel has over 104 million subscribers as of April 2020, and his net worth is 40 million USD. The infographic below estimates his earnings.

The Situation In Ghana

How much you earn for a single YouTube video depends on something called CPM. CPM is how much money you will get per every 1000 views. And it differs from video to video. It is also different across countries based on how much advertisers pay in a country.

YouTube Content Creator Kwadwo Sheldon’s Views On CPM In Ghana

For one million views on a video, you can earn anywhere from $500 to $2000, depending on CPM and the length of your video (source: Shelby Church). Videos can have a CPM as low as $1, and that means you only get $1 for a thousand views. You can’t even cash that out because YouTube has a minimum limit that you have to make before you can cash out.

If you’re going into YouTube, then it shouldn’t be about the money, because frankly, you are not going to make enough. 1000 views get you about GHS 5. That’s 5 cedis. For a thousand views. If you are going into YouTube, it should be because you enjoy making the content that you put out.
