On Friday, May 1, 2020, we reported that a senior lecturer of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) who has been identified as Dr Edward Attah-Botchwey was accused of plagiarism by Roland Ofori Larbi, an author.

In a Facebook post, Roland Ofori Larbi stated that on April 17, he posted an article titled “Why Do Our Fathers Die So Early” on his Facebook, WordPress, LinkedIn pages, and it went viral. However, he claims that his article was copied and published on Graphic Online with credit to Dr Edward Attah-Botchwey instead of him. He, therefore, demanded an explanation from the lecturer.

Roland, however, in another Facebook post has said that Dr Edward Attah-Botchwey reached out to him on the phone to apologise and explain that he had nothing to do with the publication, adding that “he’s being told it was an error from Daily Graphic editors.”

Roland also confrimed that the authorship of the article has been changed to his name now, “but still claims my designation as a senior lecturer at UPSA.”

He has now turned his attention to Daily Graphic and is seeking answers and “an unqualified apology” for the error they committed.
