The University of Professional Studies, Accra is charging the sum of GH¢100 from students as a penalty for late registration.
This all-time low penalty in many years was due to the challenges posed by the coronavirus which has led to many job losses across the world.
The development comes as a surprise to many students who were expecting to be charged a whopping sum of GH¢400 or more for late registration as was the case in the previous semesters.
But sources say the university management following persistent pleas by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) has capped the penalty at GH¢100.
The general hardship in the country as a result of the coronavirus may have been responsible for the decision taken by management.
