Seven Persons Arrested For Picking Money During Robbery Incident In Tema

The Ghana Police Service has arrested seven persons for taking part in the scrambling of various amounts of money summing up to GHC120,845 during a robbery incident at the Tema TDC traffic light on April 23, 2020.

The robbery incident was intercepted by the Police, where two armed robbers attacked their victim and took an amount of GHC123,345 in two polythene bags which had been withdrawn from a bank a few minutes before the incident.

“One of the robbers was immediately shot by police in an exchange of gunfire, while the other took to his heels, throwing the bags of money in the street, as he was being pursued by the Police in the heat of the exchange of gunfire. Onlookers scrambled for the money and failed to return same, leaving the victim with an amount of GHC2,500 which was salvaged,” the Police recounted.

According to the Police, intelligence gathering led to the arrest of the seven people. The Police Service also added that the seven people have been charged with stealing.

The Ghana Police Service further added that three of the suspects have admitted taking part in the said act, pockecting a total of GHC2,500 from the crime scene.

The Police also urged residents of the area who witnessed the incident to provide information which will lead to the arrest and retrieval of all the money robbed from the victim. They gave 191, 18555 and 0244287775 as numbers to call.
