Samia Nkrumahs Honours Father In Touching Tribute

Today marks exactly 48 years ago Kwame Nkrumah, the deposed President of Ghana and a great Pan-Africanist died in Bucharest, Romania. Tributes have flooded in remembering the founding father of Ghana.

The Daughter of Kwame Nkrumah, Samia Nkrumah took to Facebook to honour her father in a touching tribute.

It’s been 48 years since you travelled. Thank you for showing us how to create a just society in Ghana. Thank you for leaving us a vision for African freedom and unity. These guidelines will never die.  They are waiting for us to revisit and adapt them to meet today’s demands. Africans must unite and prosper.

Kwame Nkrumah played a pivotal role in the formation of the African Union (A.U) previously called the Organization of African Unity (O.A.U) and led Ghana to independence in 1957.

President Kwame Nkrumah was unconstitutionally ousted from office through a military coup. The Coup was launched by the National Liberation council (NLC) with the code name “Operation Cold Chop,” on February 24, 1966 whiles he was in Peking (today’s Beijing) en route to the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, with plans to end the American war in Vietnam.
