Today, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu is celebrating his 101th birthday.
The muslim cleric has been a long standing figure in the Ghanaian muslim community and the country’s religious growth for decades now.
He was born to Sheikh Imam Nuhu Sharubutu and Hajja Ayishatu Abbass in Accra cow-lane in April, 1919.
As today, marks his birthday, the Vice President of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia decided to surprise the imam.
“Sheikh Sharubutu is a rare asset to Ghana. He has contributed immensely to the peace and unity we enjoy in this country,” Dr Bawumia said in a Facebook post about his surprise visit.
“Even at 101, he continues to play significant roles in the development of our country,” he added.
