In Hollywood, a very rare species of entertainers are called “Tripple Threat.”

These are entertainers who can act, sing and dance professionally. Not everyone in Hollywood can be called that.

Stars such as Miley Cyrus, Jamie Foxx, Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez to mention a few are known for their versatility.

If she were in Hollywood – there is no doubt that Chrystal Kwame-Aryee would also be on this list.

She can sing, act, dance (Uncle Ebo Whyte vouch for this), beyond these, she is also an MC and a radio and television host.

Now, that is only on the talent side… Chrystal is also a marketer and a communications professional. She holds a Business Administration (Marketing major) degree from the University of Ghana and she is pursuing a Masters degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the same university.

However, for Chrystal she knew her future was in entertainment at a fairly young age.

At age three, I knew entertainment was a path for me.

It had been a very long day when Chrystal came to the Kuulpeeps.com office for her Emergers 2020 – The Colours Edition photoshoot and interview. Before arriving at our office, she had already wrapped up her nearly 4-hour talk show on TV3 called New Day.

She had sat through a post-production meeting and the pre-production meeting for the next day’s show.

As she sat in our swivel chair with her legs resting on a stool, she chatted with Kuulpeeps.com about her life – the past, the present and the future.

It was in January 2015, after years of auditions after auditions when it a somewhat clear path to the entertainment industry was opened for Chrystal.

By this time she had already graduated from university, done a few jobs here and there but she had been going for auditions chasing her career-making role.

When she had almost given up, an old school mate of hers Gerald Nartey would send her a flyer that would change everything.

The flyer was another call for auditions but this time it was for something she really loved – stage acting.

Uncle Ebo Whyte’s Roverman Productions was casting new actors and actresses for upcoming shows.

“Gerard told me to go early and that Uncle Ebo is very time conscious and that I should not get there 30 minutes after time, Chrystal said.

However, she was sceptical. She has been to auditions where well-known actors would cut the line, audition and get the part even before it gets to her turn. There have been instances where she had been offered the role of an extra, where the filmmakers would keep her on set all day with little money.

However, Gerald urged her to give it a try and that she did.

Chrystal would arrive at the venue early, went through registration, went through the two different stages of the audition wich included dancing and singing.

She finished that audition as one of those Roverman Productions would hire.

However, when the decision was made for her to meet Uncle Ebo for her final interview, Chrystal could not be reached on the phone. She had changed her number several times after the audition.

Someone she had made friends with at the audition, sent her a private message on Instagram about an MCing gig.

“Then I told him that I was surprised that I wasn’t called back to join the group,” Chrystal said.

Then he made some checks and called me back. apparently I did really really well during the auditions. They wanted me to attend an interview.

From there, Chrystal had her first opportunity to meet Uncle Ebo Whyte who she managed to impress because half way through the interview, Uncle Ebo had already hired her.

That is one of the greater testimonies in my life because Roverman has made a huge impact on my life – in everything.

Chrystal would go on to secure roles in Uncle Ebo’s “Forbidden” and “Dear God Comma”

With her background in stage acting and the standby hosting gig at Joy TV prepared her for what was to come her way.

In 2019, she was invited for a job interview at Media General (TV3). At the time, she was being interviewed for a different show, but during the interview, she was offered a co-host role on TV3’s New Day.

She would join the TV3 New Day team to walk Ghanaians through the news of the day. Later, Bright made way for Berla Mundi.

Chrystal and Johnnie Hughes – who was profiled on Emergers 2019 – were paired again as hosts of Ghana’s Most Beautiful.

For Chrystal, it was a full-circle moment – 4 years earlier, she had been in Ghana’s Most Beautiful studio supporting her cousin who was a contestant of the show.

As she gradually settled and made Media General her home, new roles were added. She was given a Friday night radio show to host.

Now, Chrystal is taking on new challenges as she has been moved from New Day to host a brand new show called Ladies Circle.

As someone who is so versatile and has been preparing herself for this since she was three – it would be an exciting new challenge.
