Idahossa’s Ocean is one of the songs featured on Kuulpeeps’ Music Unboxed Playlist…a playlist that’s looking to connect music lovers with unique sounds from artistes all over GH and beyond and…

We will never forget the first time we heard Idahossa’s Ocean produced by Dice.

We were hit by the flawless delivery and the smooth nature of the song… that’s how we became die-hard fans. You can imagine how disappointed we were when we went to look for more songs and found…nothing. Just one other song, “Captain Fantastic” that was so different we wondered if it was the same guy.

It was.

Idahossa, The talented artiste who is also a final year student of KNUST, Idahossa, explained that the break after his first song “Captain Fantastic” was a journey he had to take to explore and figure out the best style of music that will be unique but also suit him well enough to help show off his talent at its best and that’s how he settled on reggae fusion: a perfect blend of reggae/dancehall and afrobeats/pop.

We love it.

Ocean was inspired by Idahossa’s girlfriend at the time (have you paid attention to the lyrics? cos whew!!!) and he admits that it took him a while to perfect the song to what we can’t stop listening to right now.

After recording the song in November, it wasn’t until January this year that he found the perfect female vocals to put on it. The girl, Zainab was incredible no doubt but he also revealed a mindblowing fact. Aside from the clear and sweet voice you immediately hear once the chorus drops (That’s Zainab), there’s more that includes the voice of the sound engineer as well.

“So it was Zainab, CK Narh, and this girl I legit met in the studio for the first time. She came to do a song for someone and I asked her to hum a little something.

Also, the female vocals that come in the first verse before the “But I like it…” part was hummed by another girl…Emmanuella Oduro. Adlibs were by CK Narh and the sound engineer, Casper who did the mix and mastering also did a thing or two “

We cannot help but admire the thought process that went into the song and we really cannot wait for more people to hear what will arguably be one of the best songs any Ghanaian has dropped this 2020.
