ATU: All You Need To Know About The Arrangements For Exams, Submission Of Project Work And More

As part of the efforts by management to keep the minds of students active on academics, the E-Learning platform was instituted to serve that purpose as instructed by the President of the Republic.

The Office Of The Pro-Vice-Chancellor provides a guideline for continuing the 2019/2020 Academic year.

The Academic Board of the University has approved the following Guidelines to facilitate the continuation of academic and related activities by virtual means. This is to enable students,
especially those in the final year to complete the semester and academic year.

In the letter, it said the Guidelines will be reviewed once the COVID-19 situation improves to allow students to return to campus.

Some issues addressed in the letter include

The Management of the University arranging with Vodafone and MTN to provide a Toll-free
(Zero data rate) to the University’s online resources namely, iCampus
(https://icampus.atu.edu.gh), ATU Virtual Classroom (https://myatu.net), and online admission platform (https://application.atu.edu.gh).

Provision of Learning Material: Lecturers are to upload their content and activities (assignments/forum discussion) and students are required to go to the platform at their convenience to download materials or submit assignments.

Continuous Assessment of Students: Quizzes will not be used to for the award of marks for Continuous Assessment students ability to complete the quiz on time could be affected by the reliability of internet at the particular time. But the award of marks will be through the use of Take-Home-Assignments which will be two per course, and then submitted within two weeks.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Lecturers should submit to their Heads of Departments the names of students who have not yet accessed their portals so that efforts can be made to reach them.

End of 2019/2020 Second Semester Examinations for BTech Programmes: Preparations will be made to put the University in a state of readiness to conduct the End of Second Semester Examinations through the VCP. Students will have three (3) weeks of revision prior to the start of the examinations. The End of Second Semester Examinations for BTech students will end on Saturday, 11th July, 2020.

End of 2019/2020 Second Semester Examinations for HND programmes: The University is consulting NABPTEX on the conduct of the 2019/2020 End of Second Semester Examinations for HND students, in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Further directions will be issued in due time.

FINAL YEAR PROJECT WORK: Project Topics
Supervisors should review Project topics to enable students to collect secondary data or run simulations due to the challenges in collecting primary data while observing social distancing. This does not affect students who have already collected data.

Submission of Project Work Reports: Students will be directed on how to submit their Project Work Reports online according to approved guidelines. Project Work Reports that are approved by the departments will be forwarded online by the supervisors to the Directorate of Research for printing and binding.

INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT: In case the COVID-19 situation has not improved when the University is going on vacation such that students cannot be sent to industry for Attachment, each student will be given a topic on an industry-related problem relevant to the SDGs, and will have to submit this as a Term Paper/Long Essay in place of the Industrial Attachment.

RESIT EXAMINATIONS: The resit examinations for first semester courses has been rescheduled to be written after the end of the second semester.

ADMISSIONS: All admission procedures are online.
Classes and Entrance Examinations for Mature Applicants will be conducted online in case the COVID-19 situation has still not improved.

RE-OPENING FOR THE 2020/2021 ACADEMIC YEAR: If schools remain closed due to the COVID-19 situation, preparations will be made to conduct academic activities online, including student registration, the orientation of fresh students, and teaching and assessment.
