For most creative people, they hate to settle into a routine where they get to do one thing over and over again.
They get bored pretty quickly and the moment they feel boxed in, they start looking for ways to break out…
Moor Sound, though unique in many ways, is no different from other creatives in this regard.
Boredom.. his need to grow forced him to go beyond what he thought was possible.
“When I was younger I used to go for piano lessons so I used to play at parties and small gatherings,” Moor Sound told Kuulpeeps.com during the Emergers 2020 interview about how he first fell in love with music.
“I stopped doing that later in primary school but when I got to the Junior High School, I joined the school band where I played the recorder then it got boring and I started playing the drums,” he added.
When he got to the Senior High School, Moor Sound started using Virtual DJ when he became the Entertainment Prefect.
“I had to control the music, I wasn’t really djing but I was just doing something. I had to do something,” he said.
He never really took DJing seriously until he got to the university and realised that the academic path wasn’t for him instead, his path to greatness was through music.
He landed a DJing gig at a local club where he used to make GHS 200 every night he played.
But that wasn’t enough for him… He knew he wanted more and he knew there was more he could do.
“I am a very calculated person and I realised that the people that I looked up to at djing such as Diplo, Black Coffe, Calvin Harris and Scrilex actually make their own music, they don’t just DJ,” Moor Sound recounted.
“I asked myself that if I’m taking this DJ thing serious then what is the next level of this thing?,” he told Kuulpeeps.com
That was when he decided to learn how to produce his own music. He started taking mental notes but the ultimate push was when EL released a song that was produced by his old school mate Guvie.
“I saw Guvie do it and I was like I can do it too”– Moor Sound
Moor Sound was the smart kid growing up, but after graduating from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, he decided that he will do whatever he could to excel in the creative industry.
When he got back from school, he decided to land a job. After months of bad news, he finally got an offer to work at RGG Studios.
Today, he is an indispensable part of the RGG Studios machine. He has released back to back projects with musicians such as Magnom, Kiddblack among others.
